About jukebox
You're hosting. Someone always ends up as the DJ, phone in hand, taking requests over the music. jukebox gives everyone in the room their own way in: they scan a code, add what they want to hear, and the room votes on what stays.
Three buttons. Thumbs up if you like it, meh if you don't but can live with it, next if you've had enough. When half the room votes next, the song ends early.
Songs are interleaved by whoever suggested them, so everyone's first pick plays before anyone's second. One person queueing eight tracks in a row does not take over the night.
Guests need no account and install nothing. Only the host connects a music service.
Where the music comes from
YouTube
Plays in the host's browser. The video has to stay visible on a screen that's awake. That is YouTube's rule, and they enforce it, so a pocketed phone won't work. A laptop or TV on the big screen view is the way to run it.
Spotify
Plays through Spotify Connect on whatever the host already uses: a speaker, their phone, a car stereo. The screen can be off. Needs the host to have Premium; guests don't.
jukebox is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Spotify or YouTube. All music, artwork and metadata belong to their respective services and rights holders, and playback happens through their official APIs and players.
